Babydolls are a heritage breed which means they are not prone to many modern sheep problems. They are hardy and do well in winter climates. A three-sided structure is usually all that is necessary to shield them from wind, rain and snow. During lambing season, an enclosed barn or shed is best. Both ewes and rams are naturally polled (do not have horns) and are not aggressive by nature. They do have a strong flocking instinct and therefore, do not do well as singles. They require companionship and must be with other sheep.

Olde English Babydoll Sheep

Prairie Creek Acres has been a cornerstone of breeding Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep since 2007. We had the pleasure of working directly with Robert Mock when establishing our flock. We breed for good conformation and strive to meet breed standard to preserve this heritage breed. We like to maintain a small flock of 15-20 breeding ewes, both black and off-white, and often have sheep for sale. Please check our Sale page for availability. We also raise free range chickens and established a 2 acre prairie on our 35 acre hobby farm in Southeast Minnesota.

Breeding & Raising Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep

Our sheep are dual registered with NABSSAR and OEMBSSR. All our sheep are tested for scrapies resistance and we only use rams testing "RR" at codon 171.
